Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe 8-10 October 2019 Our final safari lodge was at Bomani Tented Lodge. It was about a 5 hour trip to get there, firstly on a bus, and then on the Elephant Express. A train carriage fitted with a land cruiser engine, that travelled on the normal train line.

Victoria Fall Safari Lodge, Zimbabwe 5-8 Oct 2019 After travelling by bus into Zimbabwe, we stayed at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge for 3 nights. This was to be a break from our early morning safari drives.
Kasane and Chobe National Park 2-5 October More animals from our visit to Chobe National Park. Steinbuck
Kasane and Chobe National Park, Botswana 2-5 October Photographing birds is often harder to take as they are smaller, further away and move suddenly and quickly. So I was grateful for all the help and advice from the Pangolin crew and the more experienced birding photographers.
Kasane and Chobe National Park, Botswana 2-5 October 2019 I have split up my blog for Pangolin as there were just so many photos I wanted to share. This one covers just the elephants we saw in the Chobe National Park. Our second safari lodge was in Kasane, Botswana. This was run by Pangolin Photo Safaris and so was designed and set up for photographers and only opened in 2018. Each morning and afternoon while we were there, we went out for a photo safari in the nearby Chobe National Park. All but one of these were on their purpose built boats on the Zambesi River, and the third was in a safari vehicle.
Pilanesberg National Park 29 Sep - 1 Oct 2019 My trip to Africa really started at Black Rhino Game Lodge, which is in the Pilanesberg National Park. I had had a day of rest at my hotel in Johannesburg (while my friends from the Preston Photographic Club had an all day tour). So Saturday morning we drove for 3 hours to the lodge which is not far from Sun City.
Pilanesberg National Park is the crater of an old Volcano and the Black Rhino Game Lodge is in a concession just outside of the crater. This meant that only Black Rhino vehicles could do game drives in the concession, while our vehicles could go into the main park as well. My last night in the Neterlands I spent in Zwolle, the capital city of the province of Overijssel, and another lovely historic star fort town.
Michelle and I had our last night together in Amersfoort. Now Michelle heads off for more independent travelling.
After Amsterdam we picked up our hire car and headed north west where we stayed at Kampen for 3 nights. While there we visited a few other dutch towns including Naarden, Elburg and Giethoorn.
